INFORMATION
The 4th annual Prairie State Marathon & Half Marathon is a picturesque
meandering tour through and by northern Illinois prairie, forests, rivers and lakes.
Courses will be USATF Certified.
Marathon is a Boston Qualifier.

Saturday/Race Day:
Remote Parking Shuttle: 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Last Minute Packet Pick Up & Registration: 7:00-7:40 a.m. at event start location
Gear Check: 7:20 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Marathon, Half Marathon Start: 8:00 a.m.
Half Marathon Awards: 10:15 a.m.
Marathon Awards:
11:30 a.m. & periodically after
Course is open for 6.5 hours
PARKING INFORMATION:
Limited parking is available at the start/finish location. Offsite parking is located at the Prairie Crossing Metra Train Station. From the offsite parking a free shuttle ride will take participants to the start/finish location. After the events the shuttle will take participants back to the parking area.
If you arrive in the final 30 minutes before the event you will most likely have to go to remote parking.

COURSE INFORMATION:
The course starts in Independence Grove Forest Preserve before traveling onto crushed limestone paths meandering tour through and by northern Illinois prairie, forests, rivers and lakes. All courses are USATF certified. The Marathon is a Boston Qualifier. See the elevation chart below. Please see below for water station information. COURSE SUPPORT:
All water stations will have water and sports drink. Toilets will be located along the course. Energy Gel will also be available along the marathon course.

FINISH LINE:
Smile as you cross the finish line for your event photo and receive your finisher's medal. Enjoy the food and rehydration tent at the finish line.
CATEGORY/AWARDS:
Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall for the marathon and half marathon.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
This helps fundraise for Special Olympics IL.
Runners and walkers can participate in this event. See schedule for time limit.
This event will be chip timed.
Particpants wear a timing chip integrated with their bib number that starts their individual time when they cross the start line and stops it when they cross the finish line.
Packet pick up is a time and place where participants can go to pick up their event shirt and bib number. Participants must pick up their packet and sign event waiver in order to be considered part of the event.
Gear check will be located at the start finish. While the gear check is monitored, the event is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.
During hours of operation Lake County Forest Preserves are always open to the public unless otherwise noted by the Lake County Forest Preserve.
If at anytime you are in need of assistance throughout the event please notify a volunteer or course monitor.
All participants are required to sign a waiver.
Dogs are not allowed at Independence Grove Forest Preserve.
No strollers are allowed.
The event will start rain, snow or shine. The event could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions. The above schedule is weather dependent.
