A Half Marathon returns to Hoffman Estates!
Experience the excitement of the Fitness For America Sports Festival Half Marathon. Run or walk the 5k or conquer the USATF certified half marathon run. Participate in the half marathon individually or on a relay team. Both distances offer diverse and scenic courses. Put your shoes on and accomplish the distance, receive your commemorative shirt, half marathon finisher’s medal and eco bag*, all while helping to support the Special Olympics.

PACKET PICK UP/EXPO
Packets will be available for pick up at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall on Friday and at the AT&T complex on Saturday morning. While there, check out the festival expo with health, running, inline skating and biking exhibitors. Packets will be available during specified packet pick up times only. To pick up your packet you will be required to sign a waiver and present valid photo ID. If you are picking up a packet for another participant you must bring a signed waiver and a copy of their photo ID.
GOODIES
Technical short sleeve shirts (front and back print), event bib number, and an eco bag* full of goodies will be provided to all participants. All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal. Placement medals will also be given to overall and age group winners in the 5k and half marathon see below.
RELAY TEAM OPTION:
While many participants will participate in the half marathon individually, there is a relay team category. Each leg will complete a loop around the 5k course plus an extra .25k for a total of 4 legs and 21k or half marathon. Each team will start the event and then complete 3 relay exchanges before completing the full distance. Teams can have 2-4 participants/members. The timing chip is the relay baton and must be exchanged upon every exchange.
COURSE INFORMATION
The 5k/3.1 mile and USATF certified 13.1 mile half marathon are both scenic loop courses. The course travels through North Hoffman Estates, Paul Douglas Forest Preserve and scenic AT&T complex. Each participant in the relay will run on the 5k course. Water stations and toilets will be provided on course and medical service will be stationed at the finish line. AWARDS:
Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall for the half marathon, 5k and relay event. Age groups for the relay event are based on average age of participants.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This event is chip timed. All timing chips will be available at packet pick up. It is the participant’s responsibility to return their timing chips and to pay any fees for any unreturned timing chips.
Gear check will be provided for all run events. Pick up and drop off will be at the start and finish respectfully. The event is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Weather: The mean temperature is 72 degrees fahrenheit according weather.com. It is the participant’s responsibility to choose the proper clothing, nutrition and hydration for the event day weather.
Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.
Spectators should view the course map for suggested spectator spots and road closures.
The course will be open for 3.5 Hours.
Cook County forest preserves are always open to the public except when noted by the forest preserve.
