A Half Marathon returns to Hoffman Estates!
FRIDAY NIGHT EXPO & RACE DAY REGISTRATION IS AVAILABLE!
Experience the excitement of the Alexian Brothers Fitness For America Sports Festival Half Marathon, 10k or 5k Run/Walk on July 24, 2010 in Hoffman Estates. Run or walk the 5k or strive to complete the 10k or half marathon run. All distances offer diverse and scenic USATF certified courses. Put your shoes on and accomplish the distance, receive your commemorative moisture wicking tech shirt, finisher’s medal* and eco bag*. There will be a lot of raffle prizes and awards for age group, clydesdale and athena divisions. This run/walk event is an official fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois.

PACKET PICK UP/EXPO
Packets will be available for pick up at the Prairie Stone Sports & Wellness Center on Friday and at the AT&T complex on Saturday/event morning. While there, check out the festival expo with health, running, inline skating and biking exhibitors. Packets will be available during specified packet pick up times only. To pick up your packet you will be required to sign a waiver and present valid photo ID. If you are picking up a packet for another participant you must bring a signed waiver and a copy of their photo ID.
GOODIES
Moisture wicking technical shirts, event bib number, and an eco bag** full of goodies will be provided to all participants. All half marathon finishers will receive a finisher’s medal. Placement medals will also be given to overall, age group and Athena/Clydesdale winners, see below.
COURSE INFORMATION
The USATF certified 5k/3.1 mile, 10k/6.2 mile and 13.1 mile half marathon are all scenic road courses. The courses travel through North Hoffman Estates, Paul Douglas Forest Preserve and scenic AT&T complex on roads and paved trails. The course tours past the start/finish area during the distance to giving spectators a chance to cheer participants on. Water stations and toilets will be provided on course and medical service will be stationed at the finish line, see course map for this and other information. Put your shoes on and accomplish the distance!!

AWARDS:
Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall for the half marathon, 10k and 5k. Awards will also be given to Athena and Clydesdale runners for those who wish to particpate in weight class divisions instead of age divisions.
Clydesdale and Athena Divisions for 5k, 10k and half marathon:
Men: A – 170-184 lb; B – 185-199 lb; C – 200-224; D – 225+.
Women: A – 135-144; B – 145-154; C – 155-169; D – 170+.
If you choose to participate in a weight division then you are only eligible for weight division awards and not age group awards. Weight class athletes will be weighed in on event morning.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This event is chip timed. All timing chips will be available at packet pick up. The chip is for one time use and you can keep it!
Gear check will be provided for all run events. Pick up and drop off will be at the start and finish respectfully. The event is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
Weather: The mean temperature is 72 degrees fahrenheit according weather.com. It is the participant’s responsibility to choose the proper clothing, nutrition and hydration for the event day weather.
Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.
Spectators should view the course map for suggested spectator spots and road closures.
The course will be open for 3.5 Hours.
Cook County forest preserves are always open to the public except when noted by the forest preserve.
