Enjoy your last distance event of the season on the relatively flat, scenic, USATF certfied paved course. At the finish line you will receive a finishers medal and warm up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. There is also a 5k Run/Walk for those who want to participate in something a bit shorter. The course conveniently located just off the Rt 53 and I-90 Interchange. This event donates to Special Olympics Illinois. This event is timed by Race Time.

Packet Pick Up-
Wednesday(11/24) and Friday(11/26) from 10:30am-9pm at

SATURDAY
Last Minute Packet Pick Up- 7:30-8:30am
at the Event Site
NO EVENT DAY REGISTRATION

Half Marathon Start- 9:00am
(4 waves based on start time seperated by 30 sec.)

5k Run/Walk Start- 9:15am

The course will be open for 3.5 hours

CATEGORY/AWARDS

Half Marathon
Long Sleeve Technical Shirts will be provided to all participants. All finishers will receive a finisher's medal. Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall. Age groups are in 5 year increments.

5k Run/Walk
Long Sleeve Shirts will be provided to all participants. Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall. Age groups are in 10 year increments.

COURSE INFORMATION

The USATF certified ciurse is a paved path passing though scenic prairie and forest, over bridges, and by an Elk Pasture. Miles will be clearly marked. Water stations and port-a-potties will be provided along course as well as medical service at the start and finish lines. Please see course map for this information, suggested spectator spots, and parking locations.

From the North:
Take Rt. 53 South, exit at Higgens Rd, merge onto Frontage Rd, turn left onto Higgens Rd, turn right into the last Forest Preserve Entrance before Arlington Heights Road just before the pedestrian bridge. See course map.

From the South:
Take Rt. 53 North, exit at Higgens Rd, turn right onto Higgins Rd, turn right into the last Forest Preserve Entrance before Arlington Heights Road just before the pedestrian bridge. See course map.

If you are trying to get directions via Mapquest or similar: Enter in the intersection of Higgens Rd and Arlington Heights Rd. From this intersection travel west down Higgens and it is the first entrance on the south/left side of the road.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This event donates to the Special Olympics IL.

Runners and walkers can participate in this event as long as the participant can finish within the event time limit.

All participants are required to read and sign the event waiver form. Click mail in registration link for event waiver.

Gear check will be provided.  Pick up and drop off will be at the start/finish area.  The event is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed though are strongly not recommended.  It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.

During hours of operation Forest Preserve District of Cook County are always open to the public unless otherwise noted by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Please visit Forest Preserve District of Cook County website for forest preserve rules and possible users of the trail..

Ambulance located at the start/finish area.

Water stations include water and sports drink.

This event is professionally timed by Race Time. They traditionally provide fast results with minimal errors. This is a pull tag/bar code system.

The event will start rain, snow or shine. The event could be delayed do to lightning.

In late November weather and trail conditions can be variable. It is the participants responsibilty to run in all conditions.
